Top Ten Divided By Two: Comics You Should Be Reading But Probably Aren't

I love comics. You love comics (or you read this blog just to mock my love of Rikki Barnes and Marvel Legends). You try to read good comics, yet the series that matter get cancelled and the ones that don't continue. Hulk, I'm looking at you.

Nextwave, The Order (allegedly), Blue Beetle, Cable & Deadpool, Catwoman, New X-Men (the not-morrison one), She-Hulk, all series that rocked the boat and died horribly in a burning fire.

These of course are to be followed by Captain Britain and MI13 and POSSIBLY Immortal Iron Fist (a confusing matter related to it switching out with a miniseries about the Immortal Weapons at the moment), two series that should be classics standing above shit like New Avengers (BORING) and HULK (LOEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEB!).

So with that in mind here's the Ten-Divided-By-Two comic series you should be buying but haven't bothered to, probably because you're idiots.

HIT THE JUMP TO RELISH IN MY WHINY MISERY!
(note: If I seem overly aggressive it's because I'm miserable about Captain Britain being cancelled)

#5: The Great Unknown by Duncan Rouleau

What Is It?: The Great Unknown is an awesome miniseries coming out from Image, following a prodigal thinker having all his ideas patented before he gets the chance to get rich off of them. The main character is the ultimate lovable slob and the artwork is a masterpiece of colour.
Why Aren't You Reading It?: In all fairness it probably isn't your fault. Rouleau is a very busy person it seems, who's managed two issues of the series so far, in February and May respectively. Not exactly efficient releases. So all I CAN say to you is buy the two issues that are out at the moment and perhaps it'll encourage the Mssr. Rouleau to get issue 3 out faster!

#4: All New Savage She-Hulk by Fred Van Lente, Peter Vale and Michael Ryan

What Is It?: My favourite mini EVARR if the first three issues mean anything. The series follows the daughter of Thundra and Hulk (I KNOW!) as she goes back to present day marveldom (oh yeah she's from the future, important that) to do what no one else from her time can: BREED! WITH NORMAN OSBORN! PROBABLY! There are literally NO FLAWS in this comic as far as I can see and anyone who says otherwise.... Is entitled to their opinion. The twats.
Why Aren't You Reading It?: Good question! I don't think anyone actually knows who Lyra is (unless you read that Hulk Family thing from a while back. I didn't). This combined with the fact that She-Hulk is a name long associated with cancellation has probably put all but the most bull-headed (e.g. ME) off of looking at this wonderful series. It just about hit the top 100 in May with issue 2 but that really, REALLY isn't good enough. Buy it.

#3: Nova/Guardians of the Galaxy by DnA and other people

What Are They?: Double whammy here, as both DnA (Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning) masterpieces don't pull anywhere near the numbers they should. Both series have taken the concept of the cosmic comics and said "Hey, we can do it better than ever!", and they did. Over and over. Good art, good stories and Guardians of the Galaxy has A TALKING RACCOON! AND A TALKING DOG! BUY THEM ALREADY!
Why Aren't You Buying Them: Cosmic comics tend to push away the typical comic reader, simply because they buy comics wanting relatable situations and don't expect such things from giant space battles and such. These people are dumb. Guardians and Nova both manage to take Sci-Fi and make it as relatable as those episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation where Riker would make endless references to our past. Which is very relatable. FOR GOD'S SAKE READ IT!

#2: Ghost Rider by Various

What Is It?: Ghost Rider's latest series has been all about Johnny Blaze destroying the 666 manifestations of Satan that have been released into the world, wherein each one he destroys makes the next one even more powerful. A great concept with great plotting. Oh yeah and he faces off against Danny Ketch and some other stuff too. That is also AWESOME! Regularly shit art though.
Why Aren't You Buying It?: The inconsistent art? The shitty movie? Poor Availability? I don't know. Whatever the reason it isn't a good enough one. Ghost Rider's ongoing recently ended to make room for the final part of the story; Ghost Rider: Heaven's fire, and you'd be a fool to not jump on for the six issue conclusion to this great series.

#1: Captain Britain and MI13 by Paul Cornell, Leonard Kirk and Patrick Oliffe

What Is It?: CANCELLED YOU FUCKING DOLTS! INCLUDING MYSELF WHO ONLY BUYS THE TRADES! WHY ARE WE ALL SO STUPID TO AVOID THIS BRILLIANT SERIES ABOUT BRITISH SUPERHEROES?! STARRING SUCH GREATS AS CAPTAIN BRITAIN, THE BLACK KNIGHT AND MOTHERFUCKING BLADE?! HANG OUR HEADS IN SHAME!
Why Aren't We Buying It?: Because America doesn't like other countries? Because people are stupid? Whatever reason it wasn't good enough and lead to the end of a modern day classic. Fuck us all.

Conclusion: We Suck. Next Up: Ten Best Writers.
